We Speak Nonviolence. Do you?

Peace starts with speech. House of Hope staff teaches its Palestinian students Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a healing approach to conflict resolution that gives them the skills to understand what triggers them, deepen their connection with themselves and others, and transform their habitual or emerging responses to the daily injustices they experience.

One NVC activity that House of Hope students practice involves puppets. The giraffe and jackal puppets symbolize two modes of communication. The giraffe represents communicating with compassion for ourselves and others. The jackal represents communicating when we are stuck in judgment and fear. This is what planting seeds of peace looks like.
